The car is regularly driven twice a month to keep everything lubricated. It is serviced by Mark Brewster Auto Service in Bayswater when required. It is a regular exhibit at the Wandin Car and Bike Show and a real discussion unit. Both Allan Moffat and Dick Johnson have Autographed the Air Cleaner lid on the Carburettor. It has the black authentic metal label fitted in front of the radiator.

The full size spare ER70H15. Textile Radial fitted on the Bathurst Alloy Globe Wheel has never been used so if anybody wants to smell what 1978 was like just loosen the tyre valve.

How the Cobra was born was that Ford Australia unveiled plans for an all-new Falcon dubbed the XD that would be released in 1979, unlike the XC the new model would only be released in a four door sedan or station-wagon meaning the 2 door XC hardtops of 1978 would be the last of that design. They had 400 shells left at Broadmeadows, an original proposal was to turn them into gold Playboy-themed cars complete with Bunny Decals but was rejected as sending the wrong image for a family company. Ford turned to Edsal Ford II who was Managing Director of Ford Australia at that time 1978-1980 and with his team of designers based the Cobra on the Carroll Shelby Mustangs of the 1960’s.
