Researched by respected Torana enthusiasts shows this LJ GTR XU-1 was originally used by GMH as one of their press fleet cars. This car was manufactured in January of 1972 with the model being released in February 1972.

The car was then sold to Frank Coad, the Sea Lake Holden Dealer who was amongst other things a Victorian Hill Climb and Sprint Ace who also won the Armstrong 500 held at Phillip Island.

Franks daughters have provided the current vendors with a photo of the XU-1 sitting in his driveway in Sea Lake, along with window stickers they had made for the car. The car has been featured on the front cover of the Motor Manual Magazine.

One of Australia’s prominent car collectors, Dennis Judd, owned the car in the 1990’s and had the car resprayed in 1994, the underneath along with other areas are left as original. The car at some stage was fitted with a genuine 1973 Bathurst head, cast in June 1973 (these heads are extremely rare). The casting numbers are featured on Torana forums recognising the ones that still exist.

For the past 15 years the car has been stored undercover and used on average twice a year. It has been fully serviced each year with a full inspection and fluid change…

This is a most appealing car, in very very good condition for age, boasts original interior and with strong provenance. Superb investment opportunity.

Genuine matching number car with genuine interior trim.
