Burns & Co – The Story

From humble beginnings based in Mildura, North West Victoria selling household furniture, chattels and the like Burns & Co Auctions has quickly become a household name across the country.

Driven by Company Director, Ashley Burns momentum really gathered speed for Burns & Co in 2016 when Ashley and his team were appointed auctioneers for the Cowra War Rail and Rural Museum, in Cowra N.S.W which was soon followed by the Charlie McCarron, Canowindra Motors Holden Auction in Canowindra, N.S.W where some 3000 people attended this once in a lifetime event.

It was at this point that Burns & Co introduced online bidding, one of the first Auction Houses to do so and has proved to be a big winner.

In 2017 we were back at the Cowra War, Rail and Museum for a 3 day auction and soon followed with auctions in places like Bathurst, Warracknabeal, Mildura and other parts of the Central West, N.S.W

2018 was a breakout year for the company taking on some of the country’s largest, most significant car dealership and collector auctions including:

  • The “Max Jones” Collection, Orange N.S.W over 3 days
  • The “D’Alberto Family” Holden Dealerships, Echuca, Vic and Deniliquin, N.S.W over 4 days
  • The “Mitch Vickers” Holden Premier Car Collection, Whiteman Park, Perth W.A
  • The “Phil Munday” Car Collection in Bayswater, Melbourne over 2 days
  • The Glen and Kelly Jennings Collection, “Lost in the 50’s”, Newcastle, N.S.W over 6 days.

In 2019 Burns & Co captured this growing momentum by settling into fulltime business in Bayswater, Melbourne where the business has now moved to the next level. Fast forward to 2023 and Burns & Co has gone through a major expansion, in Bayswater Melbourne with brand new auction facilities opening to accommodate world class automotive and collectable auctions. Further expansion occurred in the same year with a vehicle receival centre opening in Newcastle, N.S.W servicing the areas Sydney and North, bringing the Burns & Co brand to a national level.

So what’s been the secret to our success:

  1. A hard-working team passionate about the industry, backed up by the country’s leading auctioneers who are specialists in their fields whilst retaining the family-owned feel to the business.
  2. A well-balanced team with adequate staffing levels, bringing to the table the required resources to conduct major auctions including tilt tray truck, Pantech semi, vans, forklifts, telehandlers etc. No job is too big or too small, it’s a simple as that.
  3. Prepared to travel and take on the big jobs…nothing has phased or overwhelmed the Burns & Co team and the team have travelled to all parts of the country including Lismore to the North, Perth in the West and Tasmania in the South.
  4. The team will go out of their way to organise collection of items, vehicles, motorcycles and get them into one of their two auction facilities or conduct an on-property auction, depending on your needs, wishes and volume.
  5. Complete array of bidding options including on the floor, online, pre-bidding, phone bidding, absentee bidding. Burns & Co have retained the vital floor bidding aspect to their major auctions, where many auctioneers have dropped it by the way.
  6. RESULTS: Burns & Co are renowned for getting THE BEST PRICE and their logo rings true “When Price Matters”. Many of the Burns & Co Auctions have been record breaking, the results speak for themselves.
  7. Marketing: You can’t sell a secret. Burns & Co provide market saturation with each and every auction, have over 100,000 followers on Facebook and a significant database of like minded clients.
