Burns & Co – The Story

From humble beginnings based in Mildura, North West Victoria selling household furniture, chattels and the like Burns & Co Auctions has quickly become a household name across the Country.

Momentum really gathered speed for Burns & Co in 2016 when we were appointed auctioneers for the Cowra War, Rail and Rural Museum in Cowra, N.S.W which was soon followed by the Charlie McCarron, Canowindra Motors Holden Auction in Canowindra, N.S.W where some 3,000 people attended this once in a lifetime event.

In 2017 we were back at the Cowra War, Rail and Rural Museum in Cowra, N.S.W for a 3 day sale and soon followed with auctions in places like Bathurst, Warracknabeal, Mildura and other parts of the Central West, N.S.W.

In 2018 we were invited to conduct auctions including:

  • The Max Jones Collection in Orange, NSW over 3 days
  • The D’Alberto Family Car Collection in Echuca, Vic and Deniliquin N.S.W over 4 days
  • The Mitch Vickers Holden Premier Collection, Whiteman Park, Perth WA over 2 days
  • The Phil Munday  Car Collection in Bayswater, Melbourne over 2 days
  • The Glen and Kelly Jennings Collection “Lost in the 50’s”, Newcastle, N.S.W over 6 days

In 2019 Burns & Co decided to capture this momentum by settling into Business in Bayswater, Melbourne (whilst still retaining their Mildura operations) where regular inhouse Auctions are conducted from their brand new facility at 1 & 2/4 Market Drive, Bayswater. Monthly auctions are conducted alternating between Classic Cars and Memorabilia whilst still retaining the flexibility to conduct specialised auctions and on property auctions.

 

All auctions include online bidding, phone bidding, absentee bidding and in a normal world floor bidders.

Burns & Co have very quickly gained a reputation for exceeding price expectation and this has purely been results driven from the exceptional sale prices received through the series of the Cowra War Rail and Rural Museum sales, the outstanding hammer prices at the Charlie McCarron, Canowindra Motors sale and of course the record breaking D’Alberto sale at Echuca where many record breaking prices were received including a group of 4 Group A Commodores going under the hammer with the Walkinshaw topping out at $340,000 plus buyers premium…a result of which we may never see repeated.

The total clearance at the Lost in the 50’s Newcastle Auction was another remarkable result given some 90 odd cars and 600 lots of memorabilia went under the hammer in one weekend!

Results like the above gave birth to our motto “When Price Matters”

Classic Car Auctions & In-house Memorabilia Auctions

Burns & Co offer monthly Auctions from their Bayswater facility alternating between Classic Cars and Memorabilia/Collectables.

The classic car auctions are conducted on a Sunday afternoon from 12:00pm noon whilst most of the memorabilia auctions are carried out over 2 days being a Saturday and Sunday. All auctions receive widespread pre-auction marketing, significant social media saturation and enjoy delivery into our significant database.

All auctions are conducted live online with pre-bidding open around 10 days prior, telephone bidding and absentee bidding is also available. In a normal world floor bidding is also available from our Bayswater facility.

Items are sourced from all over the mainland of Australia and Tasmania.

Single Vendor Auctions - In-house or on property

Burns & Co offer the flexibility to conduct single vendor auctions either within the Bayswater auction rooms or on the vendor’s property. We travel Nationwide to carry out auctions on behalf of clients with no job too big or too small.

As with all Burns & Co Auctions our experienced staff:

  • Set up the auction with presentation the key
  • Provide all resources to carry out, set up and provide delivery from the auction including security panelling, trestles, lighting, forklift, telehandler, tilt tray truck and more
  • Prepare and place all auction advertising including press, online, social media, databasing
  • Catalogue the sale, photograph each lot, load to our online bidding platform
  • Conduct the auction
  • Settle the auction and complete delivery
