Very rare 1925 Fabrique Nationale D’Armes De Guerre 1300, made in Belgium.
This example affectionately known as Amelia was restored from bare chassis with boxes and crates of parts and no bodywork, together with an identical 1924 car. The two cars were bought new by two brothers living in northern NSW and stayed in operating condition until 1940, when they were dismantled and stored, probably due to shortage of the original beaded edge tyres. After some years, they were passed through a number of owners until arriving at Stanthorpe in about 1995, but still totally dismantled. The present owner bought the two cars in 2012, from Mr Peter Lamb of Stanthorpe and caried out an extensive restoration over the next 6 years using parts from both cars, with many minor parts hand made. The vendor advises that this is the only known example of this model known to exist in running condition in Australia, with only a very small number existing worldwide.
The Fabrique Nationale Company (FN), Well known as a Belgian firearm manufacturer, also made cars from about 1900 until 1930, while continuing to make high quality rifles and pistols in Belgium and in the USA up to current day.
In 1925 the FN factory entered 2 special edition 1300 cars in the prestigious Monte Carlo Rally, where they won first and second place in the 2.0 litre class.
This is a fantastic opportunity to secure a car rich in history and provenance.
