Pierce-Arrow began car manufacturing in 1901 in Buffalo NY and were taken over by Studebaker in 1928. An 8-cylinder motor was introduced that year Pierce-Arrow vehicles still manufactured at the Buffalo NY plant. A consortium of businessmen purchased Pierce-Arrow back from Studebaker and produced motor vehicles in their own right from 1933-1938. Pierce-Arrow cars were used to ferry politicians to and from Canberra in the 1920’s and 1930’s. This 1929 example was imported into Australia in an unrestored condition Circa 1992 and is a 2 door, 5 passenger sedan Model 133. Boasts a 133-inch wheelbase, 8-cylinder side valve motor, 39.2 HP, 6.3 litre, 366 cubic inch and is 17 feet in length. The car was purchased by the current owners in 2002 and underwent a full restoration mechanically, internally, and externally over the period 2002-2004 by Bill Eldridge a well-known and well-respected vintage vehicle repairer and restorer in Melbourne. The car has a Walnut interior trim, luggage rack, running boards and the famous Pierce-Arrow headlights on the fenders. A new engine was purchased from a Pierce-Arrow owner in America, and it was imported, restored, and placed in the car around 2012. This particularly example was regularly driven in car club rallies and touring events and is a well-known car within the Pierce-Arrow fraternity. It featured regularly in the RACV Australia Day cavalcade at Kings Domain in Melbourne and won multiple car display awards at events across Victoria. Now for genuine sale to finalise a deceased estate this is a rare opportunity to purchase a museum quality example of a car rarely seen for sale on the open market and of which runs, drives, and presents beautifully.
