Some History:
The machine was ordered from Norton by Lenroc Adelaide in 1949 for a rider who intended to race it. He returned to UK before taking delivery and it was sold to the previous owner in March 1950.
The bike was ordered as a “special” to the following specifications:
All alloy motor, BTH racing magneto, Amal 10TT carb, Smith’s tacho. In order to be roadworthy a battery carrier, horn, stop light and headlamp were added. No dynamo was fitted and the battery was regularly charged by trickle.
Alan Thompson did compete in one race at Woodside SA. in senior clubman class.
Further modifications included centre lift stand, jiffy stand, a Smith’s 120mph speedo (matching the tacho), and changing the rear wheel from 20″ to 19″. Front brake had a small vent chute added.
More Recent History:
Motor was completely rebuilt by Peter Westerman (approx. 15 years ago). The frame and associated parts powder coated, all chrome work polished and replated. Tank was professionally painted and stripped. A pinion seat and rear foot pegs fitted. A tap is fitted between the oil tank and oil pump to obviate crankcase flooding.
No key.
