An increasingly rare and highly original example of the iconic Czech-built CZ Type 453 lightweight motorcycle, retaining exceptional period integrity and believed to be an original Australian-delivered machine through Mayfairs Motors of Elizabeth St Melbourne, with the original Victorian distributor plaque still fitted.
This motorcycle presents as a remarkably honest survivor rather than an over-restored example, displaying consistent age, patina and authenticity throughout. The factory identification plates remain intact, the correct nacelle-mounted MPH speedometer is fitted, and the motorcycle retains its distinctive maroon and black paintwork with period gold lining, original-style exhaust system, correct bodywork, side covers and valanced mudguards.
The machine shows approximately 18,449 miles and exhibits all the characteristics collectors increasingly seek in preserved European motorcycles: undisturbed engine finishes, original-style fittings, coherent aging and sympathetic long-term maintenance rather than cosmetic refurbishment.
The Type 453 represents an important era of post-war Czechoslovakian motorcycle production and is becoming increasingly collectible worldwide, particularly in authentic unrestored condition.
