Where do you find em?
In perhaps the most recognisable colour combination of Candy Apple Red with Gold Stripes on 12 slot wheels. This XW GT is powered by the 351 Windsor backed up with 4 speed manual gearbox.
When purchased from a Victorian collector in 2003 it was treated for a cosmetic restoration approx. 30 years ago by renowned restorer Style Rod in Bayswater with the work including rust removal and repainting.
The remainder of the car appears mainly original, unmodified condition except for a tow bar fitted and a Carter AFB Carburettor in place of the original Autolite.
A set of new shock absorbers were replaced in 2003 and the car has been used on the rare occasion.
Ford’s XW GT was the leader of a new and more aggressive model range. Its basic structure still came courtesy of Ford in the USA but local stylists created a distinctive shape with enough under bonnet space to accommodate the biggest of the company’s V8s
