The Boss 429 was produced in limited numbers in 1969 and 1970, to allow Ford to homologate its new 429 cubic-inch V8 for NASCAR racing. A total of 1,359 Ford Mustang Boss 429s were produced, with 859 made in 1969 and 499 made in 1970. Each car was given a special NASCAR identification number which was placed on the driver’s door, starting with ‘KK’, which stood for Kar Kraft. Number ‘KK 1201’ was the first Boss 429 built, and ‘KK 2558’ was the last. Number ‘KK 1736’, this car is listed in the Boss 429 registry and was featured in Mustang Illustrated magazine in April 1991.
Before being restored, the seller notes it was inspected by the reputed specialist Ed Meyer, who was reportedly impressed by the condition and originality. After the restoration, it appeared on the cover of the 2010 NAPA Muscle Car calendar and has been a regular invitee to various Concours and Shelby events.
Very high end restoration, every nut and bolt returned to factory production condition right down to the markings on bolts and fixtures. Detailed photo albums of restoration process have been documented and come with the vehicle. This mustang has been used for the 2010 NAPA Calendar and rightfully got the front cover.
Undisputedly the best one we’ve had through the door, absolutely immaculate inside, outside and underneath.
A very high end performance muscle car that needs to be seen to be appreciated. Arguably the best BOSS 429 on Australia soil.
