Big tag car, factory wild violet with white interior, factory top loader with 8000rpm tacho.
Originally sold by Reg Wright Ford in Redcliffe, now running a sweet 351 but most importantly it comes with the matching numbers highly desirable D block, factory closed chamber 4V heads, 4MAB crank, pistons, rods manifold, phase 3 rocker covers as well as other original items. Also with the vehicle is the option 52 wheels still fitted with its option 55 black bonnet and long range fuel tank.
Vendor advises the car has a new brake booster, new clutch and master cylinder, new brakes, new exhaust as well as new shockers to make this GT drive and stop like it should.
The car was re painted in the early 80’s as were most of the wild violet painted cars as they had a paint issue and recall with that particular colour. The car was raced at Benaraby raceway approximately around 1982-1984, it was also raced at surfers paradise all the way up to 1985 . Back then the car was running nitrous and the original time slips and photos of it on the track come with the car. The XY GT decals were put on the car early in its life and have stayed with the car ever since. This GT made its way to Melbourne in 2018 where it has remained in the hands of Ford enthusiasts and has been used in many motoring events.
Recently it attended the 50th Hardtop anniversary in Tasmania where it completed a 1600km round trip. It was driven on the Symmons plains and the Baskerville raceways and was a part of making history that weekend. Certainly a survivor car with unmatched patina.
