The Holden Torana LJ GTR XU-1 is an iconic Australian high-performance sports coupe produced from 1972 to 1974. Featured heavily in Australian automotive history and highly prized and collectible. This Bathurst Edition beauty has extensive history and is largely original. Purchased new by the first owner from Chas Tierney GMH Dealership in Nowra on the 29th November 1972, then sold to the current owner through Clydsdale Carriage Co in Drumoyne on the 9th of January 1976 after the owners wife spotted the car on a bus ride home from work one day, since then the Torana was garaged & used as a daily driver until it was parked up in dry storage in 1986 for a year or 2 to protect & keep the milage low. With 50 years of motor racing under the owners belt, from Hill Climbs to SuperSprints in Mini Coopers & Open Wheelers the Torana was also used as a race meet tow vehicle thereafter including a drag run as pictured at Castlereagh, hence the fitment of bucket seats & five point harnesses. With over 50 years of current ownership and only 2 owners total, original motor & fairly original unrestored body, coupled with 3 x very extensive file folders & receipts including all registration slips, service & parts history, the purchase receipt & original books makes this one a very well documented & sought after XU1 Bathurst edition.
