If our last Burns and Co Classic and Collectable car auction was anything to go by, Ford XB GT coupes are more popular than ever! This one is nothing short of immaculate, factory 4/1976 351 4 speed manual, red pepper with Chamois interior. Complete with ACCHS report, it confirms that it was sold new by Carey Ford of Chinchilla Queensland. Original owner is known and has advised the vendor that he owned the car for 4 years before trading it back to the original dealership as they could not get a baby in the back seat easily. The vendor has 4 photographs of the car, taken by the original owner in 1976 showing the original rego plates that have been remade as personalised plates. All up, around 30 years of history is known, first 4 and last 26yrs. Personalised plates in original combination can be transferred to a Qld buyer.
It underwent a full nut and bolt, rotisserie restoration, sandblasted, epoxy primed, all rust removed professionally and painted in original Red Pepper acrylic lacquer paint. Every part has been either reconditioned or replaced, using NOS or very good original parts wherever possible. The vendor has many photos of the restoration that can be supplied. Original radio is Bluetooth converted and it has been converted to power steering however it comes with the original 16:1 manual steering box.
The original matching numbers engine is supplied with the car while the engine currently fitted is a Clevland XE pillow block 351 V8 with Std 351 Crank and Rods with ARP bolts, 0.020 oversized pistons, Comp cams HR290 Roller cam (230@0.050, .578″ lift), Comp cams Evolution tie bar lifters, Trend custom length Chrome moly pushrods and Manley guides. Crow stainless roller rockers, 302 Closed chamber heads, 4V valves, port matched, Unleaded valve seats and bronze guides, Edelbrock Performer dual plane manifold, 680 Quickfuel Vacuum secondary carburetor and ICE Ignition. Engine has done approximately 2000km’s.
The original matching numbers 351 Cleveland is all standard. Fully rebuilt, sleeved back to standard bore by previous owner, original GT carb and intake manifold and has not been started yet. Original engine is on a stand and the vendor will work with buyer to get it to them and is happy to deliver personally to Qld buyer.
This is yet another top shelf example that is sure to impress the GT fanatics. Inspections will not disappoint.
