The 1977 Holden Torana A9X was a high-performance option pack for the LX series, available on both the SL/R 5000 sedan and SS hatchback. It was designed with racing in mind, featuring upgrades like a stronger diff, revised suspension, and four-wheel disc brakes. The A9X played a significant role in Holden’s racing success, particularly in the ATCC and Bathurst 1000. It was a dominant force on the track, with notable wins in the 1978 and 1979 racing seasons, including Peter Brock’s iconic six-lap victory at Bathurst in 1979. Only 405 A9X Toranas were built for the public across both sedan and hatchback body. The A9X is considered a pinnacle of Holden’s factory-built muscle cars and a legendary Australian race car.
This quality example is very genuine, very original and looks and sounds fantastic. Factory Flamenco Red and Chamois this car has been extremely well preserved. Sits well on original (refurbished) wheels. Comes with a folder of documents and receipts dating back to the 1970s including Certificates of Authenticity from A9X Torana (CAMS affiliation) with matching engine and list of options ordered with the car (see photos).
