Built between October 1978 and January 1986 only 291 were V8’s with only 44 V8’s being assembled in 1981. Each car took 3 months to build with engine construction allocated to one person. The engine of this vehicle was built by Fred Waters (Aston Martins top builder who built the engine for King Charles Aston Martin). His name is engraved on the engine.
With James Bond links this car had a body off rebuild by Aston Engineering in the UK to make it resemble the car in the film “The Living Daylights” featuring Timothy Dalton as 007. Equipped with engine and handing upgrades including Harvey Bailey Handling Kit, lowered suspension and racing tyres.
The codename “Oscar India” stands for “October Introduction,” marking the updated Series 4 model. The interior was upgraded with a heavily redesigned walnut dash, centre console, and luxurious leather headlining instead of cloth. Under the hood is a 5.3 litre DOHC V8 engine paired with smoother air conditioning and refined suspension settings.
Tightly held extremely desirable iconic Aston Martin Series 4 ‘Oscar India’. Purchased by the late vendor in the UK over 30 years ago while residing there before moving to Australia in 2001.
This well respected example is only being sold to finalise part of a deceased estate, it has been on Victorian club permit (sold unregistered) and is supplied with a collection of folders containing receipts, workshop manuals, owner’s handbook and other related paperwork. This quality example should really be inspected in person to appreciate it’s superb condition and is ideally suited to a collector or museum, both due to rarity and presentation.
