The HSV Maloo is a performance utility that has been produced since 1990 and was based on the Holden Ute. Its distinguishing features have been high-performance V8 engines and full body kits.
The name “Maloo” means “thunder” in an Aboriginal language. It is said that former HSV managing director, John Crennan, coined the name for the vehicle after reading a book on Aboriginal Australians.
In 2001, HSV introduced a higher “R8” specification. In June 2006, a regular production Z Series Maloo R8 broke the record for the world’s fastest production performance pickup, at 271 km/h, (168 mph) beating the previous record holder, a Dodge Ram SRT-10 by 22 km/h.
This Excellent 1995 VS series HSV Maloo presents beautifully in great condition throughout, still all in factory condition both outside and mechanically.
A very tidy and clean factory interior which has survived well, the car sports the popular 6 speed manual and the original 185kw engine package that makes these HSV models what they are.
An extra set of wheels come with the car as seen in the photo’s, it also has a tub liner and the genuine HSV tonneau cover in excellent condition.

The Maloo ute joined our Holden family in The Hunter Valley in 2013 with only 123,000 Klms on the clock. The Maloo was purchased new from Motorama Holden in Queensland in 1995 with a build number 68 of 132 built at HSV Melbourne.
It spent most of its life in Southwest Queensland and was first registered in NSW in 2008.
The Maloo has only travelled 22,000 K’s in 12years with 19,000 of those in our family mostly in Car Club runs.
In this time, I have carried out many maintenance and small restoration jobs to the car … to keep it in the best possible condition.
Its now time for a new caring custodian.
