Gorgeous car. Presentation is excellent.
Notes from vendor:
Purchased near Sacramento California USA.
He told me he was the second owner and got the car in the early 80’s. Drove it a couple of hundred miles before pulling it down to restore. It was still like this just prior to him offering it to me.
The car has a 351C and a 4 speed. According to the Kevin Marti it was born with a 351W and an FMX. I haven’t done anything to the engine or trans at all.
When I got the car it was in primer and a yard driver.
I decided to strip it and do a bare metal restoration on the car. It was put on a rotisserie, fitted the stripped body, and then started removing the primer and previous repairs. There was a small rust area repair need in the floor in the drivers footwell. This was cut out and replaced with a proper floor section.
The rear quarter panels needed some work, and this was done by a panel beater.
I have over 600 photos of the work done over the journey, and these will be available if wanted.
The car has the following done:
• New interior including front and rear seat covers, carpet, head lining, new door trims
• New rubber seal kit
• Original style fasteners used where possible
• New GT350 passengers side dash
• New rim blow steering wheel
• Refurbished interior plastics and dash
• New front windscreen
• All new brakes front and rear
• Suspension refurbished, new bushes
• New engine mounts and gear box mounts
• New seat belts front and rear
• Rust treatment inside all skins
• Sound deadening fitted throughout including insulation to roof
• Sandblast complete bottom and engine bay of car. Then etch prime and treat with a sound deadened coating (black not red oxide as per original)
• Bare metal entire steel panels, then etch prime
• Satin black paint to engine bay
• High build to entire outer body then apply candy red with 4 coats of clear
• Vehicle presents as new although not a concours restoration
There are still some minor details to be attended to:
I have a repro Shelby rear Valance and cast aluminium exhaust which are not fitted. It currently has the standard Mustang style exhaust and rear valance. These will be supplied if the car sells. Some panel alignment may be required pending your taste for minor details. The Marti report will be supplied as well.
The front spot lights are not wired in but the switching is there.
The engine could do with a good tune and a long run as its only been to Swanpool car show and back, 80kms at best in the last 12 months.
