Another monthly auction completed, with some major overall catalogue interest,  bidding numbers and sales, what an auction this turned out to be!

The September edition of the Muscle, Classic & Collectable Car & Motorcycle Auction wrapped up this week over three massively successful nights! With 83 desirable lots on display between our two headquarters in Bayswater Victoria and Beresfield NSW, the anticipation was huge, especially with the amount of opportunity this catalogue produced!

Night one of this massive auction kicked off on September 1st, and featured a symphony of collectable Holden, Ford and Valiant vehicles that shaped the overall automotive culture in Australia. Night one alone saw 7 of the 38 lots reach prices upwards of $100,000, with all but one lot on the night selling! Night two showcased some of the best muscle and classic vehicles on offer outside of Australian soil, with many classic American, European and Japanese cars and bikes going under the hammer. It proved to be a very popular night with some tremendous results being recorded on the night. The third and final night put the exclamation point on this very successful auction, with every lot being UNRESERVED on the final day, the clearance rate for night three alone reached a staggering 100%!

The Torana’s are ever so popular today and boy did we have two special ones feature and sell well in this auction! The 1977 Holden LX Torana A9X 5.0 Litre 308 V8 Manual was the star of the show in this auction, with this mean red machine selling post auction! The best seller of the night was Lot 17, an UNRESERVED 1974 Holden Torana LH L34 SLR5000 5LT V8 Manual. This Sunburst Gold stunner was believed to be 1 of 2 models built in that colour and with such rarity, the car sold for an impressive $231,889. The third best seller that came from night one was Lot 7, the UNRESERVED 1990 Holden VN SS Group A V8 Manual (Build 034). This unreal VN Group A looked factory new, and it certainly garnered some massive interest being unreserved from the very start of the auction. It achieved a big final price of $181,609!

Night 2 proved to be a big night for all enthusiasts of international motoring. The final lot of Night 2 ended up being the nights best seller, with the 1959 Jaguar XK150 FHC Automatic Coupe selling for $109,900, a fantastic achievement! Another showstopping vehicle that generated massive bidder interest from the beginning to end of the auction was Lot 49, the Bumblebee colour themed 2010 Chevrolet Camaro Supercharged V8 Coupe. Reminiscent of the famed Camaro from the Transformers movie franchise, this iconic vehicle sold for $84,073. Among the bikes, it was the 1930 Indian Scout 101 750cc OHV taking the top price, selling at the final swing of the hammer for $48,375.

The third and final night of this auction ended on a high with all lots being sold. A pair of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, the 1994 Mercedes E-Class E320 Coupe Auto and the 1982 Mercedes-Benz 450 SLC Coupe both were the nights equal top sellers, with the pair both reaching a final bid of $19,232.

Burns & Co would like to offer a huge thank you to our vendors, staff and bidders for making this sale a success, and most importantly for choosing Burns & Co.
