UPCOMING IMPORTANT AUCTIONย 

Wednesday 26th April 2023ย  Commencing 7.00pm (AEST).

To be offered by way of Livestream Auction commencing 7.00pm (AEST) Wednesday 26th April, 2023 from Burns & Co Auction Rooms Bayswater, Melbourne.

Please note the engine is in situe on the property, Sprent, Tasmania.

 

Significant 8hp Traction Engine arriving in Tasmania in the August of 1911 having been imported by Sydney Smith.

The engine was owned by Sydney Smith for around 40 years using the engine for chaff cutting and thrashing.

The engine was then sold to E. Connell who used the engine to drive a Saw Mill at Dove Lake, Tasmania cutting King Billy Pine.

George Winwood then purchased the engine for 100 Pounds and was sold to the current owner Mr Max Chatwin around 40 years ago. Max has loved and meticulously maintained the engine ever since and it has always been housed on his property at Sprent, Tasmania. The engine is now being offered for genuine sale due to property being sold.

Max states the engine has always been well maintained, steamed regularly and was last in survey around 25 years ago.

The engine was a special build for Tasmania by Foden, England and has a rare 11 inch stroke and is an 8hp.
