This week saw another big auction week for the Burns & Co team. As well as the December Classic & Collectable Car Auction being held on Sunday the 8th of December (read about results here) we also wrapped up four other auctions over the seven-day period. There were some great results and lots of competitive bidding. Some of the highlights of this week’s auctions included*;

• A very well maintained 2019 Toyota Hilux fetching $20,551 to take the top price in the Burns & Co Auto Auction held on Thursday 12th of December. Second highest selling lot was the 1998 BMW Z3 Convertible which went for $11,429 and the 1979 Jaguar XJS Coupe came in at third place fetching $9,891.

• An Original SHELL Embossed 4 Piece Enamel Sign which topped all other items at $8,504 in the Collectors Auction that finished on Tuesday evening.
• The 1985 JIM RICHARDS ATCC Winner BMW 635 CSI 1:18 model car that sold for $402 to top the selling list in the Model Cars Timed Online Auction on Tuesday evening.
• And the May Brothers Cast Implement Seat which shot past all other lots to be the standout item sold in the Dealers & Collectors Timed Online Auction selling for $2,440.

PRELIMINARY AUCTION NOTICE: Private Classic & Collectable Car Collection Auction
Sunday 2nd March, 2025

Burns & Co are excited to have included into our January 2025 Classic & Collectable Car and Motorcycle Auction a piece of Australian motorsport history. This 1970 Ford XW Falcon GT-HO Phase II competed in the 1970 Hardie-Ferodo 500 at Mount Panorama being piloted by Kym Aunger and John Walker.

This sleek 1970 Ford XW Falcon GT-HO Phase II ran for 18 laps before unfortunately needing to retire from the race with bearing issues. Aunger won a touring car race in this car the following week at Mallala, setting a new series production lap record before the car was then laid up.

This car has been recognised by CAMS with a gold certificate of description, recognising its origin with full line of history and period correct mechanical specification and livery. Not easy to obtain, a Gold COD from CAMS includes a car having an unquestionable provenance and full details of prior ownership with no gaps or any unsubstantiated entries and original mechanical specifications.

2018 saw this beauty return to Bathurst, 48 years after its last one-off appearance, where it took part in the Heros & Legends Marquee as part of celebrations around the final year of Falcon competing in the historic race.

This is a very special car that we are sure is going to generate much interest. Keep an eye on the Burns & Co website and Facebook page for updates as the auction draws closer.
