Burns & Co has enjoyed tremendous growth since putting its footprint into Bayswater, Vic in 2019. We opened a new facility in Thornton (via Newcastle) in New South Wales in late 2023 and only recently expanded and improved our Bayswater, Vic auction rooms to be now state of the art and one of the market leaders.

Our rapid growth has bought about the need for an additional staff member to join our Thornton, NSW facility with a focus on the following:

  • Co ordinating the delivery/collection of memorabilia/collectable items
  • Co ordinating the collection and drop off consignments to/from clients, as well as vendor management
  • Setting up of auctions at our Thornton facility
  • Photographing, cataloguing collectable auctions
  • Assisting with receival of cars and motorcycles into our facility
  • Assisting with the delivery of cars and motorcycles out of our facility
  • Prepare cars and bikes for cataloguing and photography
  • Meet and greet clients and contactors upon arrival into our facility
  • Develop valuation skills
  • Attend to the show floor during viewing times

The successful applicant will bring to the table the following:

  • A neat and tidy appearance (uniform provided)
  • A team first attitude (not negotiable)
  • An interest in collectables
  • Some general knowledge / interest in cars and / or bikes
  • A reasonable level of fitness
  • A minimum of a current car license – MR or HR would be an advantage
  • The ability and desire to work some weekends (auction / inspection weekends), with the expectation of some travel interstate
  • Ability to communicate with staff, clients, contractors
  • Basic computer skills

The successful applicant will receive:

  • Fully maintained phone
  • A fun place to work where no two days are the same
  • Great bunch of people already in the business who are passionate and bring a team first approach
  • Company uniform
  • Exciting business with lots going on

The auction will take place on the evening of Wednesday the 6th of November 2024 with the first lot going under the hammer from 7.00 pm AEDT. Bidders can bid online, via phone and absentee or you can attend and bid in person at 4 Market Drive, Bayswater Vic 3153 (Note: No catering onsite).

With a nice mix of brands like Holden, Ford, Mercedes, BMW, Land Rover, Bentley and Volvo in a mix of convertibles, classics, Utes and everyday drivers, all UNRESERVED, this auction will have something for everyone.

With around 50 lots of Cars and selected memorabilia up for grabs there is something here for everyone including some fantastic Aussie Muscle, all-time favourite classics, American icons and entry level club cars as well as an outstanding selection of unreserved cars.

Royal Enfield Newcastle Knights NRL Signature Bike up for grabs at our November Classic & Collectable Motorcycle auction.

This ‘one-off’ collector piece, a Royal Enfield motorcycle signed by the 2002 Newcastle Knights NRL team is available as part of our November 18th Burns & Co Classic and Motorcycle Auction. The signatures on the bike feature some of the great names from the Newcastle Knights NRL team like Andrew Johns, Paul “the Chief” Harrigan, Robbie O’Davis and Adam McDougall.

Jack Foster Collection: Camperdown Auction. One Month to Go!

It’s just a month to go until the much-anticipated Jack Foster Collection: Camperdown Auction and it’s all action! The Burns & Co team have been busy down in Camperdown sorting the goods and shipping them back to Bayswater. See below for some of the auction items sorted so far.

With cataloguing still to take place, the auction will be held over three nights from 25th to 27th of November with a mix of a traditional auction (held at our Bayswater, Victoria, Auction Facility) and timed online auctions this will be a popular auction. Especially given all items within the auction will be offered on an UNRESERVED basis.

Including Holden Cars and numerous Holden car parts that are mostly rust free and in good order for their age including FX-FJ through to HQ – HZ. It also includes Vintage Motorcycles and parts plus much, much more. There is a lot of rare opportunity up for grabs here!

November Classic & Collectable Car Auction. Top 10 results.

90% CLEARANCE RATE!

Sunday 3rd of November saw the latest edition of the Burns & Co Classic & Collectable Car Auction take place.

It was great to have so many online, phone and absentee bidders as well as a very well populated bidding floor at our Melbourne facility making for an amazing day.

Once again Burns & Co deliver an astonishing 90% clearance rate at the Classic & Collectable Car Auction. Selling an incredible 52 out of 57 cars offered on the day!!

The top selling honour went to the final lot of the day, Lot 64, the stunning 1974 Holden Torana LH L34 SLR 5000 which reached $183,533 when the final hammer fell. The other lots at the top of our top 10 was a gorgeous 1986 Holden HDT VL SS Group A Plus Pack which sold for $172,543, and the super desirable 1968 Holden HK Monaro 327 Manual which hit $117,593.

The Motorist Museum, Gembrook Auction. Top 10 results.

Sunday the 20th of October saw us conduct The Motorist Museum, Gembrook Auction. As this was a highly anticipated auction we were expecting to see some very competitive bidding, and that was definitely the case.

The highest selling lot was the classic 1974 Rolls Royce Corniche Convertible which after some strong online pre-bidding topped the market at $73,633. Coming in at second place was a fully equipped 1928 Indian Scout 101 750cc which went on to sell for $49,500. It was another rare and desirable piece that rounded out the top 3 selling lots with the Brass Bodied 1925 Studebaker EQ Special 6 Limousine selling for $42,861.
