Calling all Steam Engine enthusiasts!

The first of six highly collectable steam engines has made its way into our Beresfield NSW Auction Facility and isn’t it a beauty? If the first one is anything to go by there is going to be some great opportunity up for grabs in this auction. All six of these engines will be offered by way of public auction on an UNRESERVED BASIS.

Based on previous auctions that Burns & Co have held of similar engines these items will be hotly contested and create a lot of interest. This week saw the team wrapping up two Timed Online Auctions.

The first of the two was the Dealers & Collectors Timed Online Auction on the Tuesday night with a catalogue featuring over 150 lots with a great selection of Automotive, Petrol and oil, Tyre, Service Station Signage, Commercial Signage etc. and includes Tins, Bottles, Oilers, Boxes, Caps, Racks, Gauges, Enamel, Metal, Perspex and other signs as well as many other general collectables. Brands featured include Shell, Ampol, Golden Fleece, Castrol, Neptune, BP, Dunlop, Olympic, Goodyear, Jeep, Volkswagen, Smiths, Commonwealth Bank and many more.

Wednesday night saw us close out Part 3 of the popular Model Trains, Planes and Automobiles Timed Online Auction with a vast array of items for both the avid and casual collector. Featuring multiple lots including an amassed collection of New Old Stock. All the big names in trains –Hornby, MTH, Proto, Powerline, Auscision, Austrains. Varied scale sizes including HO, N Scale, and more. For the car collector there was Scalextric, Classic Carlectables, Trax, Matchbox and many others in 1:18 & 1:43 and 1:64 scales including car brands such as Ford, Holden, Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz, Land Rover etc.

The highlights across the two nights included;

Dealers & Collectors Timed Online Auction

• Lot 305, the hotly contested Original Case Power Farming Machinery Embossed Screen Print Tin Sign was the highest selling lot of the night selling for $,636.
• A Mobil Man Metal Counter Sign at Lot 234 filled the second place for this auction selling for $1,141.
• Closely followed in third position by a Goodyear Motorcycles Enamel Sign at Lot 213 which sold for $1,068.

Model Trains, Planes and Automobiles Part 3 Timed Online Auction

• The highest selling lot for this auction was Lot 353 a Trainbuilder Victorian Railways H220 ‘Heavy Harry’ 4-8-4 HO Scale Locomotive in Box which sold for $1,159.
• Another train piece, the Allchin Agricultural Traction Engine Model in Case (Lot 399) came in at second place fetching $555.
• Rounding out the top three was a 1955 Mercedes Benz 300 SLR (W196S) Mille Miglia Sieger 1:18 Scale Model car (Lot 486) which made $518 when the final hammer fell.

A massive week for memorabilia, with 2 auctions capping off over 4 straight days contributing to another successful week here at Burns & Co!

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday night saw our 3 Part South Australian Single Vendor Livestream Collectors Auction with a catalogue boasting a great selection of Petrol Pumps as well as restorers Pumps/Parts. These pumps complimented a tremendous selection of Enamel & Screen print signs, Tins & Drums, Oil Bottles & Racks, Spark Plug, Sewing Machines, Workshop Manuals and Dealership ephemera & collectables plus much more. There were also some well-known brand names featured including the likes of Shell, Golden Fleece, Castrol, Pirelli, Caltex, Goodyear, Holden, Ford, Ferrari plus much, much more!

Thursday night saw us close out our Automotive & Sports, Memorabilia and Ephemera Timed Online Auction with a plethora of motoring and other sporting scripture and memorabilia and featured some great opportunity for both the experienced collector as well as those starting out. Included was a prominent selection of Holden vehicle brochures, pamphlets, booklets, manuals and general ephemera along with a broad selection of dealership posters, flags and marketing materials. For non-motorsport fans, there was an excellent selection of Aussie Rules (particularly Fitzroy/Brisbane Football Club), Cricket and some Horse Racing collectables including signed sportswear, framed memorabilia, medallions, collector cards, team merchandise and more!

The highlights across the two nights included;

South Australian Single Vendor Livestream Collectors Auction

Unrestored petrol pumps were the order of the day in this auction, with the 3 top selling lots fitting this memorabilia category and all coming from night 3!

• Lot 1434, the Unrestored Gilbert & Barker Double Visible 5 Gallon Petrol Pump was the highest selling lot of this auction, going for a fantastic price of $9,261.
• The Unrestored 6 Gallon Visible Petrol Pump was the second best seller, reaching a final price of $4,427. Third place saw another desirable petrol pump sell, with Lot 1426, the Survivor Shell Wayne AS70 Electric Petrol Pump selling for $1,951 at the swing of the hammer.

It wasn’t just petrol pumps that sold well in this auction however;

• Night 1 saw Lot 1124, an Original Enamel Goodyear Tyres Dealership Sign reach an impressive final bid of $1,427 and Night 2 featured an Original Enamel Shell Depot Sign that achieved a final price of $1,864.

Automotive & Sports, Memorabilia and Ephemera Timed Online Auction

Some rare and desirable marketing material for unreleased concept Holden models ended up catching the keen eye of bidders within this auction!

• Lot 967 was very competitive item amongst bidders, with a rare Holden GTR-X Prototype Dealership Brochure reaching a great price of $1,586.
• The second top selling lot of this auction was the highly desirable Vintage Holden Hurricane Prototype Plastic Dealership Banner at Lot 1033. There aren’t many places you’ll find these as a collector, so understandably it sold well and reached a final bid on the night of $1,244.
• Rounding out the top three best sellers of this auction was Lot 935, a Holden 50th Anniversary Cloth Banner. A great memorabilia piece for those big on the Aussie automotive industry, it deservedly sold for $762.

With over 100 lots featuring Cars, Motorcycles and selected memorabilia in the catalogues it is easy to see why there was a need for a third night. As is always the case for the Burns & Co auctions, whether you are after Aussie Muscle, an all-time favourite classic, an American, European or Asian icon, a motorcycle or an entry level club car, there is sure to be something to suit your taste.

Burns and Co have a history of offering up some excellent Aussie classic and muscle cars, and this is again the case in their June Auctions with a great selection available including Fords like a Mustang R727 Roush, 2 x LTD’s, F250, XD Fairmont, FPV Super Pursuit Ute, XP Falcon, NL Fairlane, a Landau Coupe and a Model T Ford Utility Manual. This week was a massive auction week for the Burns & Co team with SIX auctions wrapping between Monday and Thursday evenings.

It kicked off with the June Next Level Collectors Auction on the Monday night with a live auction held online and at 4 Market Drive, Bayswater with a catalogue featuring many desirable pieces including a great run of restored Petrol Pumps along with Enamel and other signs, Racks and stands, Bottles and Tins, Hi-Boys, Clocks.

Tuesday night saw us holding a Single Vendor Livestream Collectors Auction with collectables from areas such as Petrol & Oil, Tyre & Battery and Milk Bar with a nice selection of other collectables. Lots included Enamel and other signs, Tins, Bottles, Pourers, and Advertising materials.

Monday through Wednesday saw the highly anticipated 1970’s – 1980’s Japanese / Yamaha Trail Bikes, NOS Parts & Manuals UNRESERVED Timed Online Auction finish up with Part 1 ending Monday, Part 2 Tuesday and Part 3 Wednesday.

And it all wrapped up on the Thursday evening again back at 4 Market Drive where we closed out the Livestream Collectors Auction with bidders fighting it out for a varied catalogue of collectables including Petrol and Oil, Cigarette, Automotive, Tyre, Milk Bar, Traps and other collectables including Enamel and other signs, Oil racks, Oil bottles and Tins, and Boxes.

The highlights across the four nights included;

June Next Level Collectors Auction

• A very desirable Golden Fleece Hanging Ram Pump Glass took out the top spot for the night selling for $11,300.
• Closely followed at second place on the night by an original Atlantic Pure Paraffin Base Motor Oil 2-piece embossed sign which sold for $10,951.
• And taking out third highest selling lot for the night was one of the many petrol pumps on offer with the restored COR Gilbert & Barker 6 Gallon Double Manual Petrol Pump making $7,339.

Single Vendor Livestream Collectors Auction

• In excellent condition, an Original ‘The Sun News – Pictorial on sale here’ screen print tin sign topped the auction for Tuesday night selling for $1,048.
• Another sign, this time an enamel one in the Original Michelin Man Enamel Sign came in at second place with a sale price of $611.
• Rounding out the top three was an ETA Potato Crisps Tin which reached $570 when the final hammer fell.

1970’s – 1980’s Japanese / Yamaha Trail Bikes, NOS Parts & Manuals UNRESERVED Timed Online Auction

• The top selling lot across the three nights was a 1991 KTM 550cc Trail Bike that was snapped up by a new owner for $13,607.
• Another trail bike from Monday night, this time a 1976 Yamaha YZ came in at second place for the three auctions at $5,941.
• And taking out third highest selling lot was a 1970 Yamaha RT1 360cc Trail Bike that went for $4,893.

Livestream Collectors Auction

The hot item of the night was Oil Bottles and pourers with these items filling the top six selling places for this auction

• The top selling lot made $5,999 and that was the 2 x Neptune Motor Oil Multi Grade Tin Oil Bottle Pourers on 1-quart bottles with dust caps.
• A set of 2 x Neptune Motor Oil Tin Oil Bottle Pourers on 1-pint oil bottles with dust caps came in second at $4,951.
• It was Neptune Oil Bottles again in third place with 2 x Neptune Tin Oil Bottle Pourers on 1-pint oil bottles with dust caps making $4,718.

2 Big Next Level Collectors Auctions over 2 Big nights.

This week was another big auction week for the Burns & Co team with not one, but two Next Level Collectors auctions being held at our 4 Market Drive, Bayswater, Vic facility on Wednesday and Thursday evenings.

It kicked off with the Next Level Collectors Auction – Petrol & Oil Collectables on the Wednesday night with a catalogue featuring many desirable pieces including a very desirable Hex Golden Fleece Sign, Shell Stickman, Mobil Pegasus Cookie Cutter, 8ft Embossed Perdriau Sign, very desirable Pint and Quart Embossed Neptune Oil Bottles, along with early Neptune tops, and other very desirable tins, signs etc.

The Thursday evening saw a varied and desirable catalogue of over 100 lots including in part the “Wally Ditchburn” Bottle Collection offering Demijohns, and other bottles, very desirable Arnott’s Biscuits Light Box; a great selection of antique shop display cabinets, and much more.

The highlights across the two nights included;

Wednesday – Petrol & Oil Collectables

• The Wednesday night ended with a BANG as a very well looked after SUPERB ORIGINAL LUBRICATE WITH SHELL MOTOR OIL STICKMAN Enamel Sign topped the auction. We’ve seen recently that the Stickman signs are very desirable and this one proved to be also, finally selling for $46,483.
• Another highly desirable enamel sign came in at second place for the night and that was the SUPERB ORIGINAL GOLDEN FLEECE HEX OILS & GREASES which made its way up to $26,329 before the final hammer dropped.
• And taking out third highest selling lot for the night was another Blue Stickman sign. This time it was the ORIGINAL LUBRICATE WITH SHELL MOTOR OIL EMBOSSED STICKMAN enamel sign that sold for $18, 873.

Thursday – Petrol & Oil Collectables

• The highest selling lot for the night was this desirable SUPERB ORIGINAL ARNOTTS FAMOUS BISCUITS DOUBLE SIDED LIGHT BOX. With the Vendor from Sydney in attendance to watch the sale from the selling floor he wasn’t left disappointed when the final hammer fell with the final price achieved being $13,339.
• The bottles in this auction drew a lot of interest and so there was quite a bit of speculation about which bottle would achieve the highest price, and in the end it was Lot 13, the G BUTCHART MILDURA 13OZ BLUE TOP CHAMPAGNE GINGER BEER bottle that took that prize selling for $7,630.
• Some highly desirable Display Cabinets were the other sough after pieces of the night and the highest yielding lot of those was a very rare Arnott’s piece. The SUPERB ORIGINAL ARNOTTS FAMOUS BISCUITS COUNTER TOP TIMBER SHOW DISPLAY CASE was on $4,660 when the final hammer fell.
